What’s up with all the people who think it makes them cool, witty, and edgy to use the “F” word flagrantly on tumblr?

So, here’s me working from a few months ago (a coworker snapped this mid-meeting). Contrast this with my GPOYW picture…and tell me: am I better off shaving my head (as here) or letting the hair grow a bit (as there)?

Let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus.
Hebrews 12:1

Had dinner with one of my best friends tonight,

a fella I don’t get to see as often as I’d like, and his wife. He works nights, so we don’t ge to hang out nearly as much as we used to.

As we were talking, I realized that I’ve started lifting and swimming around 5:30 in the morning…about the exact time he could make it to the gym after work. And thus our plan to start lifting weights together again. Some of the best memories I have inside a gym were lifting with Calyn…he’s an amazing training partner, and pound-for-pound the strongest man I know. This is going to be incredible.

Starting Monday, it looks like I’ll be making the transition from “fitblr” to “powerliftblr”. Somehow I’m still going to try to make my way to a half iron-man next year, too. Hello, gymnasium…you’re my new home.

UPDATE: Also, we went to a delicious, gratuitously portioned barbecue place for dinner…and I got a grilled chicken salad. Hello, win.

Basically

…I live every day of my mundane life, in my mundane world, hoping that girls will “like” or “reply” to the pictures I post.

Thank you, girls who like or reply to my pictures, for making my life fulfilling.

Heck yes I’ll come visit you. I’d move there if I could. Just don’t make me eat brussel sprouts, k?

Back on..

the train. Last week was a bit of a hectic week, so I didn’t really post much or workout much, and I was a bum on eating too. This week, things are much better.

Yesterday, as I posted, started with a 4:45 wake up, heavy squats, and a mile swim. Then I ate well, worked from 8 in the morning until about 9 at night, then went to bed.

Today I woke up at 5:30, swam a mile before work, and have had a bit of a frantic Tuesday. Eating’s been solid, and all signs point to that continuing—going over to visit some friends and eat some Tilapia tonight.

I’m struggling, though, with wintertime. I know this is the time when a lot of exercise regiments fail…and I can relate to why. First off, I HATE being cold. Not just the normal minor discomfort. I Have To Have A Space Heater Under My Desk hate being cold…so running outdoors just isn’t appealing. Neither is biking, for that matter. Running on a treadmill works, but I find it much harder to maintain consistent motivation.

Where does that leave me? Swimming. Which is fine, because swimming is great workout, and I love to do it. But if I’m serious about this Triathlon business, which I am, then I can’t just focus on one aspect. But cold weather and dark-before-I-even-get-off work seem to hedge my workouts toward swimming for a while. Any advice on ways to balance it back out?

4:45

is an ugly number to see on the clock when your alarm is going off in the morning. But I’m glad to be back on the wagon with an early morning weightlifting session followed by a mile in the pool while the old women aquacised.

How many dreams have gone unfulfilled due to perpetual pledges of tomorrow’s pursuit?
